About

Something between a
technologist and a tinker.

I don't have a traditional tech background. I have something weirder and arguably more useful — 20+ years of having to figure things out across completely different industries, with no safety net and no one to hand it off to.

I started spinning records on turntables in the mid-80s. Cut hair. Managed jewelry retail. Built a buy/sell/trade chain from one store to 28 locations across the Midwest, and somewhere along the way taught myself to build the software, network, and servers to run all of them.

That led to fintech, which led to banking, which led to managing IT infrastructure for a federally chartered bank. None of it was planned. All of it was learned by doing.

The honest pitch: I'm not the deepest expert in any single thing. I'm the person who can walk into an unfamiliar problem, figure out what's actually going on, and build something that works — because I've had to do exactly that, in a lot of very different rooms.

Managing infrastructure across two on-site data centers and AWS for a federally chartered bank. Multi-account AWS architecture, PCI DSS compliance, HSM administration, network security, and disaster recovery. Built an alerting and reporting environment integrating CloudWatch, OpsGenie, and Slack from scratch.

Built proprietary POS software, VPN network, and a centralized SQL database connecting every store — while simultaneously handling leases, construction, inventory, and brand development.
